In October 2013, academic dean organized an exposure trip in for students as part of outdoor learning activities. This year, the exposure period started on 5th October to 4th November. As usual the students were divided into small groups and sent to different villages in parishes. They were sent to Alam, Chiphwi, Tanai, Kamaing, Katha, Lawa, Lawng Hkang, Mai Htang Langyaw, Mogoung, Putao, Shadau, Wai Maw, Tang Phre and Myitkyina parishes. They volunteered in those parishes under guidance of the parish priests. Visiting IDP camps, meeting villagers, teaching songs and catechism to children, leading prayer services in family prayer gatherings on Sundays, organizing youths for sports and other social activities and conducting Para-liturgy where priest cannot regularly visit are their activities. They performed their best as they planned a head of time. When they came back to St. Luke’s college, they brought confidential letters from the parish priests. The letters are helpful to academic dean and the director to help the students in the formation process. They learned a lot from the exposure. They came to know more about the needs of the people in the diocese and the required qualifications to be good local community leaders or catechists. These one month experiences motivate them to go forward.
